Workplace

More than 15 million Canadians are in the labour force and spend over half their waking hours at, and commuting to and from work. It's not surprising that Saskatchewan in motion has chosen the workplace as an appropriate setting to target inactive adults.

Currently, 48% of Saskatchewan adults are not active enough to receive health benefits! Is it because they are unmotivated? Too tired? Think it's too expensive? Or is it because their social and physical work environments don't make physical activity a visible priority and an easy choice to make?

Little changes in work environments can make a huge difference for people to make the choice to incorporate physical activity into their day. Hundreds of small, medium and large businesses  have committed time, energy and budget to make sure their employees, and sometimes even their families, are living active lives. They believe in it because it works - not just for their company's productivity levels and bottom line, but also for a happier and more supportive place to spend most of the day!

What's an in motion workplace?

An in motion workplace is one that values the benefits of physical activity and creates a supportive environment for employees to make the choice to become more physically active.

An in motion workplace is committed to work towards the goal of creating a supportive environment that results in an increase in physical activity levels by its employees. This can be achieved through a combination of education and awareness, improved access to physical activity opportunities, development of policies and procedures that support an employee's choice to be physically active, and a commitment from all levels of management to integrate physical activity into the overall business plan.
