Saskatchewan in motion — Guest Curator: Lori Milligan

Moving through a guest curator’s eyes.

Each guest curator shares the ways they stay active, the ideas that keep them going and the simple challenges anyone can try. This page is Lori Milligan’s turn at the curator’s desk.

What a guest curator does

A guest curator is someone from the movement who picks and shares the activities, ideas and resources that inspire them. Instead of one voice, you get a fresh point of view every time, from people who live active lives in their own communities.

Lori Milligan’s picks are organized around three simple ideas: move, play and share. Use them as a starting point for your own week.

Move

Everyday movement counts: walking, wheeling, stretching, dancing in the kitchen and taking the stairs.

Play

Fun is the best motivator. Try games, sports and outdoor play that make you forget you are exercising.

Share

Invite a friend, a coworker or a neighbour. Activity is easier to keep up when someone is moving alongside you.

Curator’s challenge: try one this week

Pick one or all of these. Small steps repeated often are what build a lasting habit.

  • Take a 20-minute walk at a time of day you usually sit
  • Learn or revisit a game you loved as a kid
  • Invite one person to join you for an activity
  • Try one new way to be active in your community
  • Write down how you felt afterward

Why guest curators

Many voices, one movement

Staying active looks different for every person. Hearing how others do it makes it easier to find an approach that fits your life, your schedule and your community.
